Mother tongue is the capital of a nation

Nali has said:

Nobody should say that it is Kurdish and Kurdish

Whoever is not ignorant seeks meaning himself

I'm not crazy, but I'm in love with the Kurdish language.

I write and read in Kurdish not to show the richness of Kurdish, but not to make another language superior to my own. I am sorry to hear a mixture of Kurdingliz here and there among our new generations; Should we direct our complaints to the family or the school or the community or the government?!

Do you know what is the most powerful soft power in the contemporary world? It is the power of the mother tongue. That is, to beat and destroy any nation, start with education and justice. The occupations of previous centuries were by oppression, force of arms and slavery, but now the occupation has become the occupation of language, identity and identity. Don't sound shocked, but you know that Chinese Mandarin has the most speakers as a first language worldwide, with 940 million speakers. Although, if you treat it as a language only 1.18 billion people speak it which comes second; English is the most widely spoken language with 1.5 billion speakers worldwide. Only 380 million people speak English as their mother tongue worldwide.

So now let's ask ourselves, which is more important in our daily lives and for education, work and career? Chinese or English?! It is true that a linguist is a multi-identity person. Just know that the basic identity and asset of you and your nation is your language.

Why this discussion? Because, in today's progressive and modern world, our young people believe that a 5-word sentence should contain 2 to 3 English words in order to give value to their words. This is despite the fact that they are looking for the Kurdish word and immediately complain about the absence of the word in their mother tongue. The tragedy is that the use of a foreign language instead of or within the mother tongue has become so common that it is a shame and weakness to use the mother tongue when discussing a youthful subject among university, secondary and high school students. That is why during interviews we see students using three to four English sentences until they speak a Kurdish sentence.

What if we come to spelling mistakes, pitch and punctuation, to the disasters created in translation, and from there to the name boards on shops and public places, to official government centers, and to official documents in government agencies?.

Most of the time when I correct a spelling mistake or a word with a comment on a social network it takes a few hours and it is deleted by the owner of the page as if I wrote it out of hatred.

Let our future children not complain about why we didn't correct and raise the issue. I started here and you start.

Speak Kurdish, speak Kurdish, discuss Kurdish, write Kurdish, think Kurdish, use Kurdish words and express words in Kurdish voice. Protect your Kurdish language and keep it alive. Stop all the complaints about the lack of an equivalent language, at least don't tear down what you have and keep it alive. Protect the language of your region, you will protect Kurdistan.

Know that I am not saying this to think that there is no other language in my dictionary except Kurdish; In addition to my mother tongue, I speak three other languages as my mother tongue and two others at the basic level; In addition, I have a thorough expertise in English language and linguistics and a PhD in English. However, I will never exchange the sweet Kurdish language for any other language on earth and when I speak my mother tongue I try not to mix any words from other languages. I am Arin Ahmad Mohammed, Assistant Professor and PhD holder in English. Let those who know me testify to this.

Good luck to you too!
